On 24 August 2015, Worzel Gummidge, Six Toes Bodo and Fat Girls Mattress visited the Düsseldorf Youth Hostel, the planned venue of German Nash Hash 2016, and had a meeting with the manager. We discussed a number of details and got clarifications so that we can soon sign a contract to officially lock in the hostel for this big event. Since we were there at the noon hour, after the main discussions, we made an impromptu decision to have lunch, which gave us the opportunity testing the food. We can unequivocally state that the food was tasty and plentiful; just perfect for a Nash Hash type event. The manager confirmed that the menu changes from day to day, so we don’t have to worry about having the same boring food at every meal. The salad bar has a good assortment of lettuces, various veggies and condiments as well as dressings. There were a couple of different sweets, as well as fresh fruit for dessert.

We also made another inspection of the rooms. Contrary to what was reported earlier, all of the rooms are either 2-bed, 4-bed or 6-bed; there are no 8-bed rooms. All rooms have a shower and separate WC, all en suite. Some of the rooms have Ethernet (cable) based Internet connections, but wireless (WiFi) is available in the common areas.

The Youth Hostel is located directly on the banks of Rhine River (okay, you do have to walk across a narrow road with little traffic on it), so we’ll have plenty of space for any potential circles. We even have a plan in case it should rain (hopefully not)! And, we can confirm that the Düsseldorfer Alstadt is less than 20 minutes walking from the Youth Hostel.

In summary, we can report that the GNH 2016 venue gets Six Toes, errr Thumbs Up!
